Panipuri: A Bold, Playful Display Font That Demands Attention
Practical Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Test Panipuri in pure black on pure white—and then reverse it. Its counters and spacing shift noticeably in negative space.
- Check small-size readability early: try 24pt on a mockup of a product label. If the ‘S’ or ‘B’ starts blurring, scale up or switch to fallback.
- Compare uppercase vs. lowercase in context. Panipuri’s lowercase has more nuance; all-caps settings flatten its charm.
- Review kerning pairs manually—especially ‘AV’, ‘To’, and ‘Wa’. Some versions include refined kerning; others need light manual adjustment in Illustrator or Figma.
- Try it beside four core type categories: a sturdy serif font (like Merriweather), a neutral sans serif font (like Open Sans), a relaxed script font (like Pacifico), and a contrasting display font (like Bebas Neue). Notice where it harmonizes—and where it clashes.
- Confirm commercial licensing before client work. Some display fonts restrict use in SaaS platforms or resaleable design assets—verify if you’re bundling it into Canva templates or digital products.
